You know I made peace with Dan before. But screw it now. I am sick of his pompous attitude. Sure he has 22,000 friends and gets rec'd up to the top all the time. But so what? He can't break me. And I damn sure am an elephant with a good memory. Remember when he threw ASM under the bus when she had already exited stage left for the time being? Real nice. Kick someone who isn't even around to stand up for themselves. Whether ASM was right or wrong, that was just vicious and mean. I can only assume last night's post about people failing at creating blogs away from Xanga was another pot shot at ASM and a few others. I can also only assume that Dan's views on traffic dispersing to new Xanga communities if such communities arise is a scary thing for him. Maybe he is afraid of losing his precious monopoly on traffic? I remember Dan saying he respected my "independent" streak. You know for awhile now I felt like I have compromised my own integrity by biting my tongue about this. Trying to stay out of his way, and returning the favor. But it's no longer something I want to have to deal with. I don't want to keep my trap shut while Emperor Tojo issues vapid decrees from his throne. He isn't even all that special. Geez, I remember squeezing my elbow together to make it look like an ass in the second grade. If you want to be funny at least ask Dave for some help, since he is the professional in that area. Seriously, it makes me puke to sit here and think Dan has any power over Xanga at all. He might be the most Popular boy on the block, but he needs his dick knocked in the dirt if for one minute he thinks he is above and beyond people. I know I will get flack for this, even lose friends perhaps. I do not care. I refuse to keep my mouth shut when someone has clearly lost their senses, and thinks Xanga is some Kingdom they can reign over freely where no one even dares speak up. So if I started a little war of words here, that's fine, I am ready for it. If it means losing some friends and losing most of my traffic in order to maintain some sense of self-respect, than hell yeah bring it on.
Dan- Xanga is always crappy when I am on break. (actually it might be better when you are on break.)
Wow. Let the vitriol begin. Are you ready for it? (Probably so. I don't know why I even asked. haha)
Out of curiosity, why do you think it was an attack vs. advice? He has approached the Xanga Team with the same type (for lack of a better word) of post before.
@Katharsis - I'm not even sure what that means, actually. >.<
Ha, you know. People take Dan more seriously than Dan takes himself, methinks.
@Krissy_Cole - Because he cloaks names in He's/She's... And it's not really advice he should give since he has a vested interest in Xanga. If people go off and make new blogs of their own, let them fail or succeed, it's their business not his, anybody else's, or mine.
No offense to Dan, but I must rec this.
I see where you're coming from. I've always prided myself in being able to appreciate really sarcastic, dry humor, but his humor is hard to interpret through the written word.
He's been kind to me and even removed a post that mocked me, because I told him I found it offensive. He even apologized, so I can't knock the guy for that.
I'll just say Dan is very passionate about Xanga. Sure, he may use methods to gain popularity I may not agree with (i.e. spamming), but I think he's a good person overall. And in reality, most of his 14,000 subs are probably inactive users on Xanga - hence the reason why his posts don't have many more comments than other popular bloggers with, let's say, 1,000 subs.
Hmmm...I didn't even read that blog...but let the drama begin.
P.S. I rec'd this because I think it will be funny to see what kind of reaction this post gets. I like Dan.
I know this is a dumb question, but why not just unsub?
well Paul.. haha. this was quite a step. I applaud your honesty... yet I think you might be off-base. maybe I am.. but Dan (just along with the rest of mature blogosphere) writes things to be read. I thought the post on Xanga-exiters was GREAT advice. If anyone wanted to take it personal, it was their own prerogative, but he never pointed fingers or made even cloaked attacks.... Good sound advice should be taken as that.. nothing more.. As far as ASM, I think many people watched the painful exit and cringed as the whole X world didn't follow as expected. She is making her go at it in another place and if anyone should have been happy with Dan's blog.. it most likely would be her.. she is smart and capable...
I wouldn't let your frustrations about the past needle you...
wow, someone didnt have their coffee this morning lol
@Paul_Partisan - I see. I see. I didn't see it as an attack, but I am not looking at it having experienced the mess you guys have experienced.
@Kontzicles - it was cowardly, since who besides a handful of people actually make a big fuss about leaving xanga. most just say hasta la vista baby and go on their merry way. and you think he wouldn't twice take a shot at ASM? she actually never read the first blog about her because it hurt her dan would stoop that low.
He's a good man. However, he's a conflicted one. I agree with Kestryl. Xanga doesn't love him as much as we all would like to think. At least, that was the Dan I was once close to. Who knows what's up with him now.

I'm going to sit this one out. Dan offered to take care of my trolls when I got featured a while back...
And yeah, I liked his post about the bloggers who can't make it outside of X.
We'll see.
Dan? Where be you, and what you think?
I think I'll never piss you off. You scaaaaaary.
yeah, but at least he gave advice while knocking them down. Actually, I don't think he knocked anyone down. He more commented that they were down, by their own doing, and told them how to get back up.
@Paul_Partisan - granted I do not know y'alls past... so maybe I shouldn't be commenting.. I just don't want to see you to forever frustrated over something you can't change... But each man has his own battle to fight...
